Ianni discusses autism, bullying with Knapp Charter students

Knapp Charter Academy students peppered former Michigan State University basketball player Anthony Ianni with questions during a Monday morning assembly on March 21, 2016, but it was a question that fifth grader Zachary Colthorp asked that had the biggest impact on Ianni.

“Are you proud to have autism?” Colthorp asked.

Great question is what Ianni said after wrapping up his approximately 90 minute presentation at the school in Grand Rapids.

“Everyone has labels in life, and I have five of them,” Ianni said. “I’m a father, I’m a husband, I’m a Michigan State Spartan, I’m a former college basketball player and I have autism, and I’m not afraid to say all those things. I’m proud to say all those things. You should, too, man. You should be proud every day.”
