Ianni Honored with BOOM award
Former MSU basketball player Anthony Ianni will be honored in Traverse City Nov. 5 as one of three winners of a BOOM award. The third annual convention honors Michigan citizens who have overcome disabilities to excel in their work. Ianni is now married with a child and works for the Michigan Department of Civil Rights, where he is an autism advocate and motivational speaker. He became the first athlete with autism to play Div. 1 basketball as a member of the Spartans’ team. Ianni receives an award handcrafted by people with disabilities as well as a plaque commemorating his achievement. The BOOM Convention will attract more than 300 providers of services for people with disabilities.
